Our CARE program is growing

In addition to two weekly drama classes, we’re now offering two weekly dance classes to children residing at Catholic Charities’ Caritas Center through our Creative Arts for Resilience and Expression (CARE) program. Classes run throughout the school year, providing a much-needed source of stable, after-school enrichment for children who haven’t had consistent access to housing. Our teaching artists help participants express themselves in a safe, fun environment, building their self-confidence and social-emotional skills. We are so grateful for this partnership with Catholic Charities for giving us the chance to reach children who need the arts the most.

Journey to the most unusual of universities where the mysterious Professor Bamberg will guide you through this interactive theater experience, and the choices you, the audience, make will shape your unique course. Choose your subjects of study and enter spaces themed for Math, Space, and Art! Interact with the liveliest of lecturers and encounter all manner of problems and puzzles, unlocking magical powers as you go. Cahoots combines magic and illusion with multi-media technology to create an innovative, engaging theatrical performance that’s bound to boggle the mind and spark the imagination.

A beautiful wintery tale adapted from Aesop’s classic fable. Throughout the long winter, Silas sits high on a mountain, reluctantly watching over his family’s flock of sheep. His mum and grandad count on him, but he’s bored, while below, his village is full of happy knitters, clicking their needles and crafting projects for the annual knitting competition. To shake things up, Silas cries “wolf” to make the villagers come running, but what happens when they discover his trick? A gifted ensemble of actor-musicians sing and dance to bring all the delightful characters to life, including hilarious sheep and perhaps a scary wolf or two!

Turn math into fun movement, and you’ve got a learning equation that can’t be beat! Speaking of beats… This delightful residency links creative movement, dance, music, and imagination to energize your students through a memorable embodied exploration of the central math topics they need to master this year. The residency’s goal is to make math learning fun and simple, while helping your students practice the Social Emotional Learning skills of spatial awareness, listening, and self-control.

Whether in a classroom setting, after school or summer camp program, as an administrator, teacher, teaching artist, or service provider, you work with neurodivergent children and adults every day. What is the experience of neurodivergent learners and how can you ensure that the environment is inclusive? This workshop explores the four most common disabilities that you may encounter in your daily work. Through simulated activities and label decoding, participants will understand more about the unique experiences of their wonderfully unique neurodivergent students.
